Yak Safari in India

Yak Safari in India is something unique and thrilling experience which one will cherish for long. The yak moves through the trails amidst the sceninc beauty of the hilly regions of Ladakh, Sikkim and Himachal pradesh. People who go on Yak Safari get to view lustrous places like vales, lakes, streams, snow clad peaks, green pastures, dense wood and lots more. Paragliding in India

Para gliding is one of the important adventure sports in India. There are lots of locations in India, where people who wish to venture into the gliding adventure can satisfy themselves. Para gliding use gliders usually launched from the gentle hill sides. The gliders are light and aero dynamic and are designed to go up. The para glider is a non-motorized, foot launched inflatable wing like structure. The glider is built using rip-stop nylon or high stress polyester fabric. The pilot or the person who is paragliding is clipped to a harness and flies in a highly comfortable siting position. The para glider can climb altitudes of more than 10000 ft and also can go long distances too.

Arambol - The best gliding site in India


Arambol in Goa, is a small fishing village in Goa. It is in the north of Panaji at 50 kms. Arambol have two beaches Harmal Beach and the Querim Beach. The Harmal Beach is full of activity and it is the northern beach of Goa. The beach is relatively clean and have some bays and fresh water pools which are good for swimming. The Querim beach can be reached only by foot and it have steep cliffs and hard rocks all along the way. 

The village near the beach is quite friendly. The local people here are mainly fishermen. But due to the growing activity one can find, internet cafes, travel agents and agencies, money changers, motorbike hiring and a lot more.

The best activity this place is famous for is para gliding.Though there are Anjuna and Vagator for paragliding, Arambol offers best training field for the beginners. The smooth and steady sea breeze helps the gliders to learn the nuances faster and easier. The ridges along the coast helps in flying in both the North West and South West winds. The best season to get trained is from October to June. One can enjoy smooth flying weather and climate all through the day during this period. (The course fee will be some where between Rs. 1200 to Rs. 2000 per day).

One can go paragliding from three locations, the Om rock which helps in flying in the South West direction. Kerry take off and the 1 km long ridge to the right of the sweet water lake helps in flying in the West and North West winds. The 1km long ridge is 100 ft high and is highly helpful for the beginners and learners who wish to fly from top to bottom and land in the beach.

Another best pass time one can do in this beach area from the month of November to March is Boating, Fishing and Dolphin spotting.  

Arambol is the best place for the budget travellers, who wish to visit Goa, but have a better and reasonably priced accomodation.

Trekking a Travel Hobby

Trekking is a very great but costly hobby. Trekking can be considered as both a sport and also a type of travelling. In general trekking can be called as hiking through rugged and rural territory for many days. There are many people who started trekking as a hobby and have got it converted it into a profession.

Unlike many other types of travel, trekking is less structured. Trekking is mainly influenced by topography and weather conditions . Trekkers gain a lot of natural and scenic knowledge as they always travel close to nature. Most of the trekkers travel through even an entire range of mountains. There are lots of mountain ranges across the world where trekking can be done. The most famous trekking ranges are Himalayas and Andes. Trekking can be done even on smaller mountains or hills. It mainly depends upon the number of participants and the likes of the group.

Tips for Trekkers in India

Many a times, when we go and stay in hill resorts or home stays they themselves arrange for trekking trips up the hilly terrain. It is better to know some tips and tricks while going on trekking.

1. Carry light luggage.

2. Carry light woollen dresses.

3. Carry tent that is light in weight but it have to fit for the number of trekkers.

4. It is necessary to carry substantial food, edible and eatables.

5. Now a days lots of ready to cook dishes are available in the market, it is better to carry them when you are going on trekking.

6. Carry enough bread, biscuits toffee, chocolates also.

7. Trekking should be done along with some one who knows very well about the place. The person should know better about the terrain, locality climate etc.

8. Carry necessary medicines for fever, headache, painkillers etc. It is necessary to carry band aids and skin ointments also.

9. Though there will be a person who knows about the terrain, it is better to take a weapon (like small knife) for self protection.

10. It is better to carry sun screen lotions, moisturising lotions and creams to keep the skin as normal as possible.

11. A sleeping bag with a carry mat should be taken along as the place where the camp will be set up will not be known. But it is better to set up the camp in flat surface.

12. If ever you are lost, never panic rather staying calm and think about ways to get out of trouble will always help. Better think as a team in such situations and decisions should be taken unanimously rather than each and every one giving different suggestions.

Heli Skiing in India

Heli Skiing in India is picking up as a new adventure sport.

The difference between normal skiing and heli skiing is that a helicopter will drop the skiiers on a top of a hill and from there the skiiers have to come down the hill simply criss-crossing the whole route. Heli Skiing is a very very risky sport and it gives a chance for those who wish to risk a lot in their life. The route the heli skiiers would have to take is not the normal route but have to travel down through unexplored routes and at times even ridges.
The Himalayan region in India is the best place to give a try to this thrilling and exciting, risk taking sport. The places where Heli Skiing is currently offerred are:

The skiing destinations are located in Himalayas and gives a chance to the skiiers to witness the unexplored glacial regions. Auli - The skiing Destination of India


Auli is an emerging Skiing destination of India. It is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state at an altitude of 2500 to 3050 m above the sea level. The small town is becoming a central of attraction of Uttrakhand due to skiing. Auli is on the way to Badrinath. The entire town of Auli is one of the best tourist destinations of India with lots of attractions. Auli have a training centre for Indo-Tibetian border police which is equipped with the best medical facilities and chopper facilities to help the needy tourists.

The Nanda Devi peak is the tallest amongst the snowy peaks visible from the slopes of Auli. The town of Auli is covered by Hathigauri, Neelkanth, Comet and Eravath mountains. It is believed that Hanuman rested in Auli on his way to pick up the Sanjeevani in the Himalayas.

How to reach Auli:

By Air: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun which is 273km from Joshimath and 17km from Rishikesh.

By Train: The nearest railway station is at Haridwar. But it is better to reach Dehradun by Shadabti Express

By Road: Auli is of 13km drive from Joshimath. Lots of busses ply between Joshimath and Rishikesh regularly.

Skiing
   Just because of the skiing, Auli have started to emerge as a tourist destination. Skii enthusiasts say that Auli is one of the finest skiing resorts. Auli provides the best skiing experience for both novice and experienced skiers. But experienced skiiers will find it a bit difficult to ski in these slopes which descend from 3049 to 2915 m. A 500 m long ski lift and 800 m long chair lift link the upper and lower slopes. There is an excellent opportunity for cross country, salom and down hill skiing.
During the month of Feb Skiing events and competitions are held. The slopes of the Himalayan Hills are considered to be the best in the entire Asia. Though skiing is not a big sport in India, it is definitely catching up. The entire slopes of Auli is highly perfect for skiing which is lined up on both the sides by oak and pine trees giving it the feel. Best season to visit Auli is from November to March.

Asia's longest Cable Car
   Gondala or cable car helps in moving along the slopes of the snow caped mountains. Auli boasts the Asia's longest, 4Km long Gondala. The rope way connects Auli with Joshimath and the entire travel distance is 15-20 minutes. There are totally 10 towers supporting the rope and the cost is Rs. 400 per head. The view is exciting enchanting. To move from the lower slope to upper slope one can use the chair lift which is controlled by hydraulic and pneumatic braking system. The car is attached with a strom warning device. Both the cable car and chair lift gives an unique experience for the tourists.

Artificial Lake:
    Auli have the world's highest artifical lake close to a private hotel named Clifftop Club. The water from this artificial lake is used to create the new ski slopes when there is low snow fall so that the ski season can be extended.

Trekking:
There are lots of trekking routes from Auli. The trekking trail is normally completed in one day. A few of the famous trekking trails are Auli-Gorson; Gorson-Tali; Tali-Kuari Pass; Kuari Pass-Khulara; Khulara-Tapovan

The best season to visit Auli is from End of December to March.
