Bikaner District, Rajasthan

 The district of Bikaner lies in the north west part of the district of Rajasthan. It is a part of the Thar desert and is also referred to as the Desert District. The place is a treasure trove of rich culture, heritage, ancient royal history, amazing architecture, mesmerizing palaces, havelis and forts. It is a must visit place on a visit to the State. Churu District, Rajasthan

 

The district of Churu lies in the northern part of the state of Rajasthan. It was founded by the Banirot Rajputs. It was a princely state for centuries and later on a part of the Bikaner State. After independence, it was formed in the year 1948 by combining the tehsils of Taranagar, Rajgarh and Churu. The district headquarter Churu is referred to as the Gate to the Thar Desert and the district is majorly a part of the desert. Temples, palaces, historical monuments, havelis, forts, unending sand dunes, ponds and sanctuaries are what attract tourists to the district. The sanctuaries are very popular due to the migratory birds that come from far off countries like Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Siberia etc. Exotic animals like Blackbuck attract wildlife enthusiasts. Dholpur District, Rajasthan

Situated in the eastern part of the state of Rajasthan, the district of Dholpur is its smallest one as per area. What it lacks in area, it makes up in its resources that includes the famous Dholpur Red Sandstone, exotic animals like alligators, hyenas, Sambar, Chital, deer, leopard and migratory birds like herons, ibis, ringed plover, moorhen etc in two of its famous tourist wildlife sanctuaries. 


Dating back to the 7th century when it was established by the Tomar ruler, Raja Dholan Deo Tomar and subsequently named after him, the place has much ancient history having passed on from the Tomars, Maurayas, Chauhans to the invader Muhammad Ghuri. It was formed in the present day district on 15th April 1982 after being carved out of Bharatpur district. Along with ancient historical monuments including palaces, stepwell, forts, babadis it is home to innumerable varieties of flora and fauna. However, its most popular product so to speak is the Dholpur Red Sandstone that has extensively been used in the construction of monumental structures like the Red Fort, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Vidhansabha Bhawan of Jaipur as also its ancient and exquisite City palace. Temples, pilgrimage places, Gurudwara, Forts, its art, culture and heritage etc add to its tourism value.
