 The district of Vadodara, more popularly known as Baroda lies in the eastern part of the state of Gujarat. It is very developed infrastructurally and economically. It is Gujarat's third most populous district. Before Independence, it was a princely state ruled by the Gaekwad dynasty. Hence it has a rich cultural and historical significance. The district headquarters, Vadodara City is home to the fabulous Lakshmi Vilas Palace and Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, the largest university in the state.
