Famous sweets of Goa

 Shining like a precious jewel along the western coastline of the country, Goa is known for its alluring amalgamation of three diverse cultures-the French, the Portuguese and the Indian.While tourists may just tapple on the seafood Goa is also a place that drools us for its desserts.Goan desserts are among the best in the country, especially if you love coconuts. Goa offers a wide variety of desserts to choose from. The Goan cuisine is largely influenced by Saraswat, Konkani, Portuguese, South Indian and British cuisines.The people of Goa still make traditional sweets from recipes passed down from generation to generation. 10 of the scrumptious sweets one must taste in Goa are:

1.Bebinca-There are a number of traditional Goan delicacies, and Bebinca, also known as the queen of Goan desserts,  is one that is always featured in most Goan festivities, be it Christmas, Easter, weddings or Christenings. Making bebic, requires lots of patience, as each layer has to be baked, before the addition of the next layer and so on. Homemade bebinca is definitely a labor of love!



2.Dodol: Dodol is a Goan dish, and it is made up of coconut milk and coconut jaggery. It has sweet flavors of a creamy taste of milk. The best dodol is ofDom Pedros, Margao. Dodols are the sweet dish of Goa, loved by the people of Goa.



3.Alle Belle(Goan Pancakes):Alle Belle is a traditional Goan dish which is had as a tea time snack. It is a pancake stuffed with Coconut and Jaggery. Similar to Kerala, I observed Goans too use lots of Coconuts in their dish. Not only that, this Alle Belle is more similar to another Kerala dish called Mutta Paalada


 4. Bolinhas: Bolinhas are Goan cookies made with semolina and coconut. They are slightly crisp on the outside and soft inside. It is a tea time treat that can be enjoyed during any time of the year but without bolinhas as Christmas sweets your Christmas sweets platter would be incomplete
