Sabarkantha District, Gujarat

 In the year 1949, 29 princely states and some parts of Ahmedabad district merged to form the present day Sabarkantha which became a part of the Bombay State. On the bifurcation of the Bombay State, the district of Sabarkantha became a part of the State of Gujarat. It is located in the Northeastern part of the State. The Tropic of Cancer passes through the district.

One of its villages, Punsari is considered to be the best village in the State.
