Each and every Shakti peeth in our country is a very important Hindu pilgrimage centre attracting huge numbers of pilgrims. Accordingly, out of the 51 body pieces of Goddess Sati, her wrists ( Manivedikas ) fell on this place on Earth where the Manivedika temple is constructed. The temple stands on the Gayatri hill and is made of stones. The construction and architecture of the temple is very impressive. The pillars of the temple add to its grandeur.

The ambience is peaceful and divine.

The two idols installed in the temple are Devi Sati and Devi Gayatri. The idol of Lord Shiva is that of Sarvananda, the one who makes everyone happy. There are idols of various other deities like Lord Ganpati, Kaali Maa and numerous others.

This form of Devi Sati / Gayatri is believed to resolve domestic unrest and fulfill the devotees wishes.

The temple is the ideal place for the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra which is considered to be a Mahamantra providing one with all the benefits of all other mantras combined, such is its power.

ॐ भूर भुवः सवः

त्त सवितुर वरेनियम

भर्गो देवस्य दीमही

दियो यो नः प्रचोदयात

Gaytri Mantra as a Goddess

The recitation by various devotees brings immense peace to the mind and a feeling of divine energy all around. The Devi Murti is well adorned. The prayers and rituals performed  during the 9 days of Navratri festivals, twice a year, hold special significance for the devotees. Similarly, the celebration of the Maha Shivaratri festival with offerings of milk, bael ( बेल ) fruit to the Shiv Linga, the chanting of mantras and prayers, the beautiful decorations, the fragrance of the incense sticks, the dhoop, the flowers , bring immense spiritual peace and joy.

After visiting the Devi temple, it is imperative to visit the Bhairav temple situated in the same complex. Otherwise, the darshan is deemed incomplete.

At every Shakti Peeth, a particular Bhairav Dev is associated with the Goddess. This temple has the Sarvanand form of Bhairav Dev.
