 The district of Tapi in the state of Gujarat was carved out of the district of Surat on 27 th of September, 2009. It lies in the southern region of the state. It has a very extensive forest cover and is a leading producer of Bamboo.

Patan District, Gujarat

The district of Patan lies in the northern part of the state of Gujarat. It was carved out of Mahasena and Banaskantha districts on the 2nd of October, 1997. The district has religious and historical significance. There are more than 100 Jain temples here that attract a number of religious pilgrims every year. On top of that it has quite a few ancient structures that show marvellous architectural engineering and are very popular with the tourists. The district being quite close to the neighbouring country of Pakistan is quite a sensitive zone. It is world famous for its Patola Saree which is hand made  and takes up to 6 months to a year to be woven by a select few skilled weavers who belong to the three remaining families having its skill and knowledge. No wonder it is very sought after and extremely expensive due to its weaving style and exclusiveness.

Saputara, Gujarat

 Nestled in the western Ghats ( Sahyadri Ranges ) on the border of Gujarat and Maharashtra, the hill station of Saputara in the Dang district of Gujarat is one of its most visited tourist places.


Literally meaning the Abode of the Snakes, one can see an image of a snake on the shores of the river Sarpaganga. Technically, it lies in Gujarat, but many towns of the state of Maharashtra lie very close to it as well. Hence it is a perfect getaway for people of both the states.

Picturesque locales, Cool and pleasant climate, lush green beauty of the forests on the Sahyadris, the view of the peaks and valleys, cascading waterfalls, calming shores of the lake, winding roads besides a number of activities that one can indulge in, and quite a few festivals and events arranged by the Tourism department of Gujarat.
