The district of Narmada in the State of Gujarat gets its name from the holy river Narmada that passes through it. It was one of the six districts in the State that were formed on 2nd October, 1997. It lies in the eastern corner of the State and is its third least populous district. It has the distinction of being home to the Statue of Unity that is a major tourist attraction.
