 The district of Surat lies in the western region of the state of Gujarat. It is one of the most developed and the second most advanced districts in the state. As per area, it is its largest district while being the second most populous. It is a coastal district sharing its border with the Arabian Sea. Historically it has always been an important trading center and played a major role in the politics of the British, Mughal, French, Dutch and Portuguese play for power. It finds mention in the great Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.

How to reach :-

Via Airports - The nearest airport in the district is 11 kms from the city of Surat. It connects the district to all major cities of the state, the country and the world since it is an international airport.

Via Railways - The nearest railway station to the district is in Surat city which lies in the western zone of the Indian Railways. It connects the city and the district to other major cities of the country. The district connects to the Central Railway line via Udhna Junction and the Tapti line. 

Via Roadways - NH8 and NH6 pass through the district and connect it to the rest of the district and the country. In fact, the NH8 corridor is one of the most developed industrial areas in the country. 

GSRTC ( Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation ) runs various buses connecting the district towns, villages and other cities of the state and the country 

Via Seaways

NH8 connects the city of Ahmedabad and Mumbai  to Hazira port. 

NH6 connected Hazira port to Surat and the Maharashtra border.
