The district of Baran in the state of Rajasthan was formed on the 10th of April, 1991. Before independence it was a part of the princely state of Kota. It is located in the Southeast part of the district and shares a border with the State of Madhya Pradesh. The state is famous for the Ramgarh Crater which was formed by a meteor. The district has much cultural, traditional, historical and scientific significance. The religious places, the traditional cultural diversity, events, ancient history and the meteorite crater attract a huge number of visitors to the district.
