The district of Mehasna was a princely state that merged with the Union of India in 1947. It was a part of the Bombay State which was later on bifurcated in 1960 into language based States; Maharashtra and Gujarat. Mehsana became a part of the newly formed Gujarat State. It is economically well developed with the presence of many Oil and Gas wells, major Educational Institutions. The district is popular as a pilgrimage tourist attraction as well.

Via Railways - The district of Mehsana railway network is under the Ahmedabad division of the Indian Western Railways. It is well - connected to most major cities of the State and the Country.
Trains to Delhi and Mumbai run daily whereas there are bi - weekly / weekly trains to cities in the South and the North of India. It also connects with the Kandla port via the railway network through Gandhidham and Ahmedabad.
