 Here is a list of the must-see places in Igatpuri:-


  1. Kalsubai peak - At a height of 5400 feet, it is the highest peak in the state of Maharashtra. It blooms with a thousand flowers in the monsoon. A trekking paradise with very tricky trails that present a challenge to even the experienced trekker. 


  2. Dhammagiri Meditation centre - An International centre that offers 10 day free residential courses in Vipassana technique of meditation.

  3. Myanmar Gate - Entrance to the Dhammagiri Math, built in the architectural style of Thailand. Very popular place for tourists and photographers due to its beauty.

  4. Bhatsa river valley - It lies at the end of the Thal ghat, in the basin of the majestic Bhatsa river. It is covered with lush green vegetation. It's rock formations are excellent for rock climbers. The trekking trails are scenic and full of natural beauty.

  5. Arthur Lake - It is formed by the Pravara river in the Bhandardara region. It's a huge, placid lake that looks like a glittering jewel amidst the dense greenery surrounding it.

  6. Amrutheshwara Temple - 9 th century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva,it is situated by the banks of the holy Pravara river. Built in the Hemadpanthi style,it is a beautiful rock carved temple and is maintained by the ASI ( Archeology Survey of India ).


  7. Ghantadevi Mandir - Ghantadevi is believed to be the protector of the ghats. It is a very popular Hindu pilgrimage site. With a spectacular backdrop of Durvar, Harihar, Trimak and Utvad peaks, it is a very beautiful sight. Adding to its beauty is the Tringalwadi fort.

  8. Tringalwadi fort - Built in the 10th century, situated at a height of 3000 feet, just behind the Ghantadevi Mandir, this fort is much preferred by the trekking enthusiasts. 


  9. Girisagar Waterfall - A majestic waterfall near the picturesque Bhavali dam. It offers misty fogs, lush greenery and many waterfalls in the monsoon. 

  10. Camel Valley - Located just a few metres from the scenic Bhatsa river valley, Camel valley offers everything that a monsoon lover expects ; lush greenery, a 1000 feet roaring waterfall,many small waterfalls, natural beauty to gladden the hearts of nature lovers and photographers alike. It also offers water-based adventure activities like river rafting and river crossing.  

  11. Bitangad trek - A hill fort situated at an elevation of 3500 feet. The top provides a picturesque view of the whole of the Sahyadri ranges. This peak is quite a popular spot for overnight camping. 

  12. Kulangadd trek - It is the biggest hill fort in the state of Maharashtra, situated at a height of 4800 feet. The top provides amazing scenic views of the surrounding peaks of Kalsubai, Naneghat, Dhakoba among others. The trek up to the top of the fort is very challenging 

  13. The five waterfalls - A very popular picnic spot with not one, not two but five waterfalls one below the other, it is accessible across the railway line on the Ghantadevi Mandir road. 

  14. Sandhan Valley - Also referred to as Maharashtra's Grand Canyon,it is an amalgamation of both a valley and a canyon making it a perfect trekking route. Many outdoor activities are available here.

  15.  Bhavali dam - A very serene and a calm place to spend some time watching the sunset and the surrounding natural beauty. It is preferred as a picnic place and for the purpose of nature photography. It is built on the Darana river which is a tributary of river Godavari.

  16. Vihigaon waterfall - Just 12 km from Igatpuri, it is a 120 feet high waterfall full of natural beauty with the dense surrounding woods that provide scenic  hiking routes to the waterfall. Adventure sports like rappelling are available here.

  17. Kasara ghat - Also called Thal ghat, it is a mountain pass that links Mumbai and Nashik. Situated at a height of 585 metres, it is full of lush green hills, enchanting natural beauty that attracts nature lovers and adventure seekers.

  18. Igatpuri cemetery - To the North of the town, on a hillock is the Igatpuri cemetery that has graves of soldiers who died fighting the great war.
